“I understand, Sir, and thank you for taking the time to have a member of your staff reply to the request that you didn’t read (and I didn’t vote for you).”

If I had stayed in Unka Sam's Kanoe Klub, my CO, XO and Div. O wanted to put me in some kind of Officer program. Never did get the details of the program because by then I had decided I had played sailor long enough. I was right at that point that I had done everything I had set out to do when I joined, gotten all the training and enough experience to be useful in the "real world". So it was get out now or stay until 20. So I got out. My Division Officer had been enlisted then became an officer. When he retired as an O3, he reverted to E9 because his retirement pay would be better.

Know a woman who put in her twenty, retired, then went to work for the Government doing the same job she had before but at now much higher pay.

To be fair, statistically, he'd end up an officer...

To be fair, Congress critters can only have a limited number of appointees at each of the service academies. I don't recall the exact number, but I think it is 10 at any one time, spread across all four years.

...to be fair, West Point is an *Army* school
